Pop up butterfly cards

I brought this card kit from my local dollar shop for $2.50. The cards where already cut & embossed on the front and printed on the inside. The pop up butterfly / flower were die cut and had to be assembled - it was all very quick and easy. The front was a bit plain - so I added a paper doiley, buttefly sticker and stamped a sentiment on a scrap of patterned paper.

A few more layouts to share :) The first one is another one from my unfinished pile - woo hoo!

These 2 are new ones. I took a lot of inspiration from this layout I found on Amy Tan's blog :)

Truck card

I thought that while I was working on my unfinished layouts, I should finish the few half-made cards sitting on my desk too :)  A very simple card, but will definately make a few of these for the little boys (and maybe some of the bigger boys) in my life.

Layouts

I have 2 weeks off over the Chrismtas / NYE period, so have been scrapping :) I have been trying to stick to my resolution to finish a layout before I start a new one, so I only have a very small pile of layouts to finish (compared to last year's 15+ layouts)!   I got these 3 layouts finished today :)

A fun filled Christmas

We had a wonderful Christmas day :) We got up and opened our presents - Craig spoilt me with jewellery (hoop earrings and 2 Pandora charms - a cruise ship and owl), GLEE karaoke games, DVDs and an overnight bag.  I cooked bacon & eggs for breakfast, then made a choc ripple and a gingernut logs for dessert. We played the karaoke games - lots of teasing and conpetitive-ness (AKA me gloating when I won LOL). It was a pretty hot day, so we turned on the a/c and watched a few movies. Lunch was fresh prawns & crabs, then we headed outside to have a swim in our new pool (we just brought a 306x76cm wading pool - big enough to float around in!). We headed over to Diane's for our family dinner, where we opened more presents and chatted while dinner finished cooking. We took some alcohol slushie buckets over and we all had a few Xmas drinks :) Laurinda created a new cocktail - which I got to name - The Frisky Elf (I was a bit tipsy by then ROFL). We had a delicious meal of turkey, pork and veges and dessert. A few more drinks and more chatting, then we headed home.

12 Days of Christmas - Day 12

A quick and easy idea to decorate your table tomorrow :)   I saw this candy cane place card holder online and made a simpler version. I stuck the 3 candy canes together with glue dots (other people used hot glue, but I wanted people to be able to unwrap and eat the candy canes), then tied some ribbon around the top to keep it a bit more steadier. The place card is just a white tag stamped with the name and Santa, and tied with some twine.

More Christmas socialising

Another busy weekend of socialising :)   Saturday morning we were up earlly to face the crazy crowds at the shopping centre, so I could get my hair chopped off.  I decided to go shorter with lots of layers - love how it looks :)  We spent Saturday afternoon / night with the in-laws celebrating our niece's 7th birthday - a very relaxed evening with nibblies, a few drinks and lots of chatting.

Sunday morning we were up early and headed over to my mum's to have an early Christmas (she was heading out to Blackwater to spend Christmas with my brother, sister and their families). Craig, MIL Diane and I swapped gifts, then friends arrived and we had a delicious hot breakfast together. Mum set the tables in a red / gold / cream theme - looked gorgeous!

After breakfast Craig and i headed home to finish getting organised for his work Christmas party - a BBQ at our house :)  It was lovely to meet everyone's partners and kids.,  We enjoyed an evening chatting,  having a few drinks and a delicious BBQ.

12 Days of Christmas - Day 11

I have been wanting to make a fabric wreath for ages and decided that this was the year to get motivated and make one :)  I used the Christmas apron I brought from the op shop last week and some red & green material I already had in my fabric stash - all I had to buy was some yellow striped fabric and a wooden embroidery hoop. I spent a relaxing hour watching TV and putting this all together this morning and love how it turned out! I'm still undecided about hanging a felt ornament in the middle or not - what do you think?!?!

12 Cards of Christmas - Card 12

The last of my 12 cards of Christmas - hope you have been inspired to create some cards too :) This card was inspired by one I had seen on a blog, but I can't find the link to share. After I made the green one and loved how it turned out - I thought I would make another one with a different stamp and colour.

12 Cards of Christmas - Card 11

Today's card is definately not, my usual style, but I wanted to try one with a tri-fold style. It doesn't show in the photo, but each edge has sparkly glitter along it.

12 Days of Christmas - Day 10

I have a recipe to share today - something you can take along to Christmas parties or pack into cello bags to give as a gift.

Caramel Fudge

125g butter, chopped
395g condensed milk
2 tbs golden syrup
1 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup white chocolate melts

1. Grease and line tin.
2. In saucepan, melt butter.  Add condensed milk, golden syrup and sugar.
3. Stir over low head until boiling, then simmer 10 mins.
4. Remove from heat, stir in chocolate melts and mix until smooth.
5. Pour into tin, cool and refridgerate until firm.

12 Days of Christmas - Day 9

I wanted to share another gift idea. Mum loved the idea of the DIY cake stands - so made up a few and filled them with various bags of the goodies we have been cooking recently. She wrapped them up with cellophane and gave them to co-workers and some friends.

Thrifty Thursday

This is my last Thrifty Thursday post for 2012.  I have a few random odds & ends to share :) A metal pot (will spray paint and use it to store my nail polishes) $2, a Christmas apron (which I'm going to cut up and use on a project) $1 and a Tupperware dish $3.

Another ceramic Santa - $2. He's very similar to the one i brought a few weeks ago, so this one is going to live at my mum's house :)

A book #2.50 and set of gorgeous pink beads - $3.

12 Cards of Christmas - Card 10

Today's card is using the same design I made for the Christmas tags swap in July. I just made the circle bigger and adhered the tag onto a kraft card base.

12 Cards of Christmas - Card 9

Another quick and easy card today - using leftover strips of paper and a pre-made embelishment.

12 Days of Christmas - Day 8

These cute tealight snowmen have been popping up all over blog-land this Christmas and I knew I had to make one :) This was quick & easy to make and used supplies I already had.

Christmas Lights

This year Craig and I decided to set up some Christmas lights. I had been thinking about adding some for years and thought we could start with a few sets of icicle lights...Craig on the other hand thought it was the green light to go crazy with lights LOL It's very usual for Craig to get so enthusiastic about Christmas decorations - but he enjoyed buying the lights, planning where to put them and setting them up. I was surprised to find a few new sets of lights appearing after the initial set up and even more surprised when I found him looking online for more decorations! I did joke about signing him up for "Christmas lights anonymous"! LOL

12 Days of Chrismtas - Day 7

I had this frame left over from our garage sale (from ages ago), just waiting to be recycled into something funkier! It was a very ugly brown, so I spray painted it with a few coats of white gloss. The felt shapes are Christmas decorations (brought last week in the 1/2 price sale) and some washi tape covered wooden pegs.

More Christmas socialising

Another weekend of socialising - I love this time of year :) Yesterday I went to a Kaszazz Christmas party at Pauline's. A wonderful afternoon meeting new people, making a card, eating delicious food and playing games. I was lucky enough to win some great prizes and Pauline gave us all some lovely gifts - 2x rolls ribbon and a packet of fabric flowers and this cute gift purse. It did have a packet of chocolates, but I had to eat them cause they would have melted in the heat (that's my excuse anyway LOL).

Today I went to Simply Crafty Christmas party - another lovely day spent with friends scrapping, sharing a delicous lunch, chatting and secret Santa :)

I've been to 2 Kaszazz make & takes over the last couple of weekends - where I made 2 Christmas cards. It's always nice to learn new techniques :)

12 Cards of Chrstmas - Card 8

I love today's cards :) I have been wanting to try the ribbon background technique for a while. These were quick and easy to create and a great way to use up all the ribbon scraps.
